Bell Becomes First FARE Chairman's Level Donor

Fort Worth, TX (September 25, 2006)

-- Bell Helicopter, a Textron company (NYSE: TXT) became the first corporate sponsor to achieve the Chairman's level of donation to the Foundation for Air Medical Research and Education (FARE). The donation was presented on September 6th, 2006 to FARE board members Dr. Kevin Hutton, Chris Zalar and Joan Black in Ft. Worth, TX. Presenting the check was Bob Fitzpatrick, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales. Also present for Bell was Treg Manning, Executive Director of Marketing and Strategy, and Sandy Kinkade, Six Sigma Black Belt and previous Bell EMS Marketing Manager. Bell has pledged $300,000 to FARE.


In making the donation, Bob Fitzpatrick said, "The importance of supporting the mission and vision of FARE in assuring every person has access to quality air medical transport was key in Bell's decision to make a major contribution. As an Army helicopter pilot involved in Medevac missions, I have seen the important role rapid response and patient treatment makes to survivability from serious injuries. We are proud and honored to the first in the FARE Chairman's Circle."

Their contribution to FARE demonstrates Bell Helicopter's ongoing commitment to supporting the research, safety, and educational missions of FARE and AAMS," said Dr. Kevin Hutton, Chairman of FARE.


In addition to the humanitarian aspect FARE's research will foster, assuring safe operations is another aspect Fitzpatrick cited as a significant factor in supporting FARE.


Bell is one of the helicopter manufacturers who has committed resources towards the goal of reaching an 80% reduction in rotor wing related accidents over the next 10 years. With human factors being a major contributor, there is an opportunity for FARE to dig deeper into risk mitigation in the safety arena." He said.


With the EMS industry requiring a much more holistic solution for their mission requirements from the manufacturer, Bell has increased it already strong focus on providing the safest, most reliable products.
