EDI Issues:
The "Late List"

What is the "Late List"

The late list is a document automatically generated by our EDI system which notifies Bell EDI personnel that a functional acknowledgement (997) has not been received for an EDI transmission.

Why is it important to Bell?

A functional acknowledgement (997) provides Bell an electronic receipt of an EDI transmission. Without this receipt, the transmission will not relieve from our sustem.

How do you appear on it?

You will appear on our "Late List" if we do not receive a Functional Acknowledgement (997) within:

  • Three business days of transmission. (routine orders)
  • One business day of transmission (commodity orders)

What should you do about it?

If you are contacted by a member of the Bell Helicopter EDI team, electronically or by phone, you should:

  1. Check your EDI to insure that you have received all orders in your mailbox and sent back all functional acknowledgements
  2. Verify receipt, or lack thereof, of the order in question
  3. Contact Bell Helicopter to verify receipt or request a transaction be resent.

What Bell Will Do

If Bell Helicopter has not received a Functional Acknowledgement (997) within three business days, they will:

  1. Contact the recipient, electronically or by phone, to verify receipt of the order.
  2. Log the problem and resolution in the EDI statistics logs.
  3. Contact the buyer, if necessary, to gain assistance to rectify the problem.

The Bell EDI staff understands that occasionally problems occur which result in a supplier appearing on the late list. We become concerned when a supplier consistently appears on the list, and problems are identified but not corrected. The first rule of EDI is: "It Must Work." The EDI team will employ reasonable means to insure that EDI transactions run smoothly.
