Bell Helicopter Participates in Texas Watch Program...

Bell Helicopter's Environmental Department has joined with the City of Grand Prairie's Environmental Department in a partnership to facilitate environmental stewardship in a collaborative effort to promote a healthy and safe environment through watershed protection, data collection and community action. As part of the Texas Watch program, Bell is collecting and analyzing water samples from two local streams.

This data is turned over to the City of Grand Prairie for their records, who also sends it to Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas for addition to a database of information on creeks, streams and rivers collected by other monitors across Texas.

Texas Watch involves the participation of volunteers, students and faculty, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and Texas Watch Partners such as river authorities, regional councils, businesses, universities and other agencies. Texas Watch emphasizes communication about the environment, which is based on the premises that water issues are inextricably linked with air, biological, land, and human resource issues, and that the protection of the environment requires the active, positive, cooperative participation of all Texans.

For those people whose concerns are centered on water quality, Texas Watch helps them design water quality monitoring programs to address those concerns.
